Our Staff
Originally from Prince George’s County, she is an entrepreneur, an educator, and an advocate. She currently works as an adjunct professor at Washington Adventist University where she teaches College Study (for students on academic warning), and Learning Assistance (for students on academic probation and suspension). Among the other courses she taught were Introduction to Counseling, Social Welfare Policy, Human Behavior in Social Environment I and II, which were all within the Department of Social Work.
Before social work, Shauntia was a recipient of and worked for the Hillman Entrepreneurs Program at Prince George’s Community College and the University of Maryland, College Park, where she assisted student entrepreneurs with all aspects of business development, transfer assistance, and career and academic planning. At Oklahoma State University, she worked closely with the Rita Center and the School of Entrepreneurship to evaluate the development of the first entrepreneurship education magnet high school in Tulsa, Oklahoma; participated in the Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (CIE) Scholars Program, where she, outstanding MBA students and a select number of other students from graduate programs across campus commercialized new technologies in partnership with the Schools of Engineering and Business; and traveled to Cape Town through the Entrepreneurship and Empowerment in South Africa (EESA) Program, where she consulted black business owners under the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Initiative, South Africa’s first attempt to address inequalities as a result of the apartheid regime.
Shauntia has also conducted research investigating women, families, and children in Ethiopia, China, and Kenya. Throughout her career, she has been named Prince George’s County Social Innovation Fund 2015 “Forty UNDER 40 Prince George’s County” and Distinguished Alumna for Prince George’s Community College 2015 Convocation. In 2016, she was awarded “Organizer of the Year” by the Congressional Research Institution for Social Work and Policy and “Advocate of the Year” by the National Association of Social Workers-DC Metro Chapter.
She holds a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, a master’s degree in Human Development and Family Science from Oklahoma State University, and a bachelor’s degree in Family Science from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is certified in Human Service Leadership and Management, and is now a certificate seeking student at the School of Public Policy’s Nonprofit Management and Leadership Program at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Native of Nigeria, Praise Osamor is a undergraduate student majoring in Public Health at University of Maryland, College Park. Praise joined YSocialWork, Inc. as an intern while studying at Prince George’s Community College. She is passionate about leaving a positive impact on the lives of people in my community and worldwide. She also looks forward to having a career that involves social work.
She is an alumna of Surrattsville High School and a recipient of the Southern Management Leadership Program.

Native of Prince George’s County, Nina Oterio is a senior at the National Christian Academy. Nina joined YSocialWork, Inc. as an high school intern, who expressed interested in leading the Youth Advisory Council. She has accumulated up to impact on 100 hours since starting July 2020. Nina inspires to become a therapist but enjoys working with YSocialWork to evaluating innovative designs and engaging with other high school students.
