Press Release
It’s been a long time coming, but we just reached a significant milestone, and we’re excited. This is not an April Fool’s joke. YSocialWork has officially incorporated as a non-profit organization in the State of Maryland!
YSocialWork is set out to become a collective of young leaders, advocates and entrepreneurs standing together with practitioners and clients to carry out reform in mental health care, criminal justice systems, and racial and ethnic disparities in poverty, through issue-based advocacy education and philanthropy.
We recognize and believe that because social work is an evolving profession rooted in a strong ethical code, the foundation of YSocialWork is based on the key values of community, collaboration, transparency, and responsibility for societal change.
For many years there have been a disconnection between social workers, pop culture and how we best position ourselves in the shift from charity to philanthropy, now to social justice and grassroots advocacy efforts. Our aim is to connect and inspire young social activists to join the social work profession by hosting virtual quarterly information sessions, campaign strategy meetings, organizing workshops, and by launching a robust voter registration and information campaign.
YSocialWork is a multi-racial, multi-issue, progressive network of social organizers fighting for social justice in human services. Our mission is to advance social justice through advocacy, organizing, and philanthropy among young people across the globe.
We still have quite a few milestones to go before we achieve our mission, but for now, YSocialWork has officially set out to become an international catalyst for social justice. By exploring our new website, you will learn more about our path to achieving this mission.
